A squeegee is a common cleaning tool with a rubber handle. Cleaners use it to wipe moisture from the glass, and as the rubber flexes, it can remove all the water, leaving the glass dry and free of streaks. Some squeegees come with microfiber cloth scrubbers that are both attached to lightweight plastic handles. Others can also be attached to extendable poles if you decide you need more reach.

We also need a way to carry all our essential tools. Holster belts and belts allow us to wear our tools around our waists, neatly arranged so that we can access everything we need, whether we clean the front doors or the 12th-floor windows. 1. Two scrubs are better than one

Use two separate scrubs and wash cloths — one on the inside and one on the outside — to prevent contamination and bird droppings inside. This helps keep your indoor windows looking fresh while keeping the outside, well, outside.

2. Rules for dishwashing soap

Any dishwashing soap in the kitchen cleans the dirt and grease and leaves the glass smooth so that your squeegee slides smoothly. However, try and use 100% biodegradable soap that will protect sensitive plants from the outside. Inside it will protect toddlers and pets who put their mouths on windows or pillars.

3.Vinegar works, too

If you choose to use natural cleaning products, vinegar is a viable option for cleaning windows. Vinegar (acetic acid) breaks down grease and does not streak, making it easy for you to clean your window. We recommend a solution of 50 percent white vinegar and 50 percent tap water.

4. The Magic Eraser

The Magic Eraser is great for cleaning: it removes permanent marker and crayon stains, cleans bruised baseboards, and/or removes scuff marks from all around the house. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is great for removing silicone caulk and water stains, leaving your windows sparkling.

A 12- to 14-in. squeegee is a good size in most cases. Install a new rubber blade after each cleaning to prevent streaks. Have you ever watched how experts clean windows? There are things that we do when we clean our windows . It’s simple, yet it makes a big difference. We wipe our squeegees with a dry towel every few swipes. This is a complete game changer!

The razor blade removes overspray paint and gun. Keep the glass moist and use a new blade each time. Small rust particles on the blade can scratch the glass, so make sure to have a new blade every time.

If you need to remove tree sap, adhesives or other hard spots on your windows, try stainless steel wool. Sprinkle the glass with a window cleaning spray and gently remove stains with fine metal wool.

Our Top Six Favourite Windows in Film and TV

The actors aren’t the only ones that play a major role in iconic scenes, sometimes parts of their homes and neighborhoods are equally just important. The windows as well set the background for each of the scenes, they enhance our memories of these shows and movies.

Here are some of our favorite and most iconic windows in TV or film:

Window Cleaners in Hutchinson Island cleaning windows

1. Opening Window scene-Cinderella (1950)

This one is a classic film. One of the best Disney animations, we love the old tale where Cinderella is forced to live as a servant by her evil stepmother and is otherwise confined to her quarters in the tower of the family’s home and breaks free when she finds her prince.

In the opening scene, our first introduction, Cinderella narrates bout the wonderful dream she had and the camera pans to the window that shows the beautiful palace. It’s a magical moment that shows us what Cinderella wakes up to every morning.

2. Ending Window Scene -Fight Club (1999)

The first rule of Fight Club is to never talk about Fight Club…

Fight Club was one of the best films to come out in 1999. The shocking ending left us with an amazing window view of buildings collapsing, the last terrorist tactic by Project Mayhem, to try to turn people away from capitalism. We love this gorgeous scene!

3. Carrie Bradshaw's Window-Sex and the City

Like Friends, the window in this HBO series makes a lot of appearances throughout the series. As Carrie Bradshaw sings poems and writes books, she is often found sitting at her desk in front of one of the windows of her apartment.

Carrie often starred out the window, contemplating the hardships of dating and relationships in New York City. Many who are associated with the program consider New York to be one of the actors in this series and what better place to see New York than to pass by Carrie’s window?

 4. The Window in Monica’s  apartment-Friends

While most people quickly think of Ross and Rachel, Monica and Chandler as well as Phoebe and Joey, parts of Monica’s apartment are almost identical to the character of the show as well. From the purple walls to the frame around the viewing area of the door, many aspects of the living space are involved.

The unique window behind the apartment, overlooking their small balcony (accessible only through the window), provided a beautiful backdrop for many of the show’s favorite episodes. To the gang watching the town below at the time of the power outage, in which they stared across the street ‘Ugly Naked Guy’, that window looked like the 7th friend of the show.

Friends window_OWS

In both the books and the movie, Gatsby appears to look from windows. Whether is to watch Daisy or his neighbor.

The Great Gatsby ultimately reveals that moments of tangible truth and insight are fleeting, subtle, easy to ignore, and therefore all the more important. The window here represents a realization of the unpleasant truth.

The Exorcist is for sure one of the scariest films ever. The Iconic poster showcases the terror before even the Priest enters the house.

The Exorcist is the story of poor little Regan (Linda Blair) who becomes possessed by a demon claiming to be Satan himself. The consequential details are mostly too explicit to write about in this post, however, they force local priest Damian Karras (Jason Miller) to bring in a church expert to perform an exorcism (pictured).

The window in Regan’s bedroom plays a significant role throughout the film. Seemingly, whenever it’s open someone becomes possessed or is killed and in the film’s finale, Father Karras jumps through it to destroy the Demon. The window is truly iconic given the significance of its openning and closing.

8 Behind-the-Scenes Secrets of Professional Window Cleaners

Window Cleaners have been responsible for making dirty glass windows in homes, offices, shops, and high-rise buildings clean and shiny. Because we often work in harsh, physically demanding conditions — outside, on stairs, on scales, or on formal stands — window cleaners have a much more dangerous job than most people, but it for sure has its benefits!

Here are 8 secrets of our often-fun trade:

Window Cleaners in Hutchinson Island cleaning windows

1. THE WORD "WINDOW WASHER" MAKES US CRY!

The word “window washer” is incorrect. “Most of the time we call ourselves window cleaners… we are not sure why, but for some reason most of us are reluctant when people call us window washers, we feel like an appliance! “Window cleaner,” a word that may also imply respect and professionalism, is widely used in the posting of window cleaning jobs.

2. WE LOVE THE FREEDOM OF WORKING OUTSIDE ...

We value having the freedom to spend our days outside rather than sitting in an office. We work independently and find solitude and peace that hangs high in the air, far from the rest of the world. With the wind in our air and the blue sky as our background, we absolutely love our job!

3. ... BUT FEAR IS STILL A MAJOR PART OF WORK.

Despite the feeling of peace some window cleaners feel when they work, fear is still a natural part of the job. If you do not feel intimidated by this job, you would be wrong … This is one of the most dangerous jobs sometimes, we often have to scale huge heights and precariously dangle off some of the most dangerous surfaces.

4. WE HAVE SEEN SOME UNUSUAL THINGS THROUGH THE WINDOWS

Window in the rain

As window cleaners, we are often given unusual access to the inside of private spaces (or work indoors, when cleaning the interior of windows), so understanding is a must for work. You see all kinds of things through the windows, but we always make sure to value the privacy of our clients and keep being absolute professionals in our industry.

Because of our commitment to safety, we begin our day’s work by checking our tools to ensure that all safety features are in place. And while accidents may scare away window cleaners, they usually do not kill. Data from the International Window Cleaning Association shows that between 2010 and 2014, a high-quality window cleaner is killed every year. That was a major improvement over 1932 when 1 out of every 200 New York window cleaners was killed every year.

The biggest misconception is that the window cleaning industry is full of unskilled workers and it’s an easy task, people think cleaning a window is a simpler task than art, while in fact, we require several hours of training and certifications, from some of the following organizations; The International Window Cleaning Association, The Industrial Rope Access Trade Association, The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and/or The International Powered Access Federation.

Its often said that we don’t look down because of fear! However, when working on high ground, window cleaners do not look down, because we say, we have no time to look down and see pedestrians on the road or the scenes below. We simply do not look down because we are busy working!

It is misconstrued that most window cleaning jobs are for men, but women window cleaners are attracted to the look and feel. The industry is seeing some of the fastest-growing female entrepreneurs and workers and we are no exception!

Your Chandelier and where to place it in your home!

When buying a chandelier, you must know exactly where it would go. It adds personality into that space making it more luxurious and elevated! No matter what you are looking for, the dimensions of your space are a key factor. You also have to take into account the type of chandelier you are looking for as there are lots of options out there- crystalcandle stylelanternsputnik.

Make sure that the fixture is not too small or too large to make the room look disjointed. Of course, when you start shopping for your perfect chandelier, we recommend measuring your ceilings as well and the length and width of the room.

Positioning the chandelier consists of the following 2 factors:

  • where it will be placed in the room and,
  • its hanging height.

Mounting the chandelier in the wrong spot will impact the room’s overall aesthetic – if it hangs too low, it will hinder the flow of traffic through your home; if it’s too high, the light may be too dim to be useful.

Some helpful tips that we recommend for the measurement are as follows:

  1. Width: Measure your room’s length and width in feet and add those two numbers together. Then use that number as the width in inches for your chandelier.
  2. Height: The recommendation would be 3″ for every foot of space between the floor and ceiling. You find this number by multiplying the height of your ceiling (in feet) by three

The best rooms to place your Chandelier

When placing a chandelier in a specific room, reference some of our recommendations below:

Dining Room Chandelier

The dining room often has the least amount of foot traffic in your home, especially if it’s a formal dining room. Having a chandelier in the room just adds elegance to a formal dining experience.

You should hang it in the middle of the table and not the room because some of the additional furniture, like a buffet table, would off-center the chandelier itself and thus create an imbalance.

Clean Crystal Chandeliers

Living Room and/or Bedroom

To add that touch of class, using chandeliers in a living space just adds to the ambiance. In the bedroom or living room, make sure to center it either to the room or the bed, and you can also have the option of adding mini chandeliers over your nightstands in the Master Bedroom.

Foyer/Entryway

Chandelier-Cleaning_OWS

If you have a large foyer, a chandelier placed over a round table will provide a bold statement. In a small entryway, the chandelier should hang in the middle of the room. It adds to the grandeur of the entrance and your guest will most likely notice this chandelier the most, given that the foyer/entryway has few pieces of furniture.

The bottom of the chandelier should hang approximately  30″ – 36″ above the countertop and should be centered to the island. However, if you are hanging multiple pendant lights or mini chandeliers, we recommend placing the lights 30″ apart from each other along the width centerline of the island. If you will have three lights, center one above the middle of the island and then hang the other two 30″ apart on either side.

Apart from having the wall lights, chandeliers add in the extra light to need to get ready. They look amazing in Walk-in-closets. As a good rule, it should always hang above the level of your clothes.

Of course, for safety reasons, the bathroom chandelier should be enclosed or made for this moisture rich environment. Due to strict building codes, the chandelier must be at least 3′ from the edge of the tub or shower. You can either center it to the middle of your bathroom, or over your bathtub for a more luxurious soak!

Window Cleaning: 5 Myths and misconceptions

The truth is that windows easily collect dirt and grime even though you may clean them regularly. This can come through poor window cleaning techniques, even after putting in lots of effort and elbow grease, you end up with streaks and lint that really take away from the shine and clear view that you may be looking for.

There are a few misconceptions about the methods we use to clean our glass windows and we want to break them down to you!

Rain water will clean your window

Raindrops actually leave stains and residues on glass windows. It mixes with dirt on windows to form unsightly marks and can cause damage long-term so it makes sense to clean your windows regardless of what the weather forecast says!

Window in the rain

Hot Water Cleans your Window Faster

While it might seem so, the water actually needs to be warm to the touch, just enough so cleaning detergents can develop to their full strength without evaporating. The hot water may the change the chemical composition of the detergence and render them ineffective.

Water and vinegar clean the windows amazingly well

The fact is, while warm water and vinegar clean the windows well, you need to add dish detergent so it can actually wash the smears away leaving an unbelievably clean surface. HERE we teach you how to clean your windows with vinegar and water.

Window cleaners are not good for the environment

Cleaning Detergents

We all know that climate change is one of our largest planetary disasters and we all want to do our part to protect the earth. While there are some window cleaning solutions that will harm the environment, most of them are safe for humans to use and for the environment. These alternatives may be more expensive, but you’ll rest easy knowing that you are doing your part.

This may have been true when newspapers used to be thicker, you could shine your windows with them However, since most newspapers are now considerably thinner and tear easily, they would also leave residue on your windows. The ink used on newspapers additionally stains the trims around your windows. The microfiber cloths of today do a much better job at polishing windows. Chamois leather is also top-notch for window polishing.

It really depends on the house that you have! If you have fewer and smaller windows, then a DIY job may be the best option. However, if you have lots of windows and they are larger and fairly unreachable, then we think the best option would be to use professional window cleaners.

They come with the best equipment and can reach those windows that you simply cannot! Sometimes washing the windows may take more from you than you think, so why not use the easiest option!

Our window cleaning team is well- trained and utilize the products and tools in order to give your home the shine it deserves. Should you experience work that is poorly performed by other window cleaners, then we are the ones to call to ensure the job is done correctly. We know it’s important to love the appearance of your home.  And that is why we strive to make sure every customer is 100% satisfied.

Windows…Why do we know so little about them?

Windows are just one of those things we would never want to live without, but we also don’t contemplate much. We’ve all spent countless hours gazing out of them through school and into the workplace, love adorning them with curtains or planters, and even loathe their bi-weekly clean. Why then, do we know so little about them? This week, we’ve decided to indulge in a little bit of history, fun facts, and helpful hints: all about windows.

The Meaning of “Window”

  1. The word “window” in English originates from Old Norse vindauga. This is a combination of wind and eye, translating to wind eye. The English word window was first recorded in the early 13th century. It referred to a hole in a roof. The Old English version of window literally translates to eye-hole or eye-door.

2. They were commonly made of paper, cloth, animal hide, flattened pieces of animal horn or thin slices of marble (wikipedia.org).

3. In the late 1600s, glass windows were considered a luxury, and even the wealthiest only had windows in their most important rooms

  1. Glass windows only became common in homes in the early 17th century
  2. It takes a team of more than 30 people approximately three months to wash 34,348 windows Burj Khalifa, in Dubai!

6. Light-color shades reduce a window’s solar heat gain by as much as 43%, while awnings reduce it by as much as 77%

7. On average windows make up roughly 15% of a traditional home’s wall space.

8. Shatterproof windows, which usually have a piece of plastic sandwiched between two glass panes, give homes an extra level of security against break-ins and severe weather. The fabrication produces glass that is two to four times stronger than standard window glass,, which are now required by code in some hurricane-prone areas, are as efficient as low-E glass and help reduce noise transmission.

  1. Glass is 100% recyclable. In fact, it can be recycled endlessly without losing quality or purity.
  2. Most manufacturers recommend windows should be replaced after around 20 years. Signs of a failing windows include those that allow drafts to enter your home, are sealed or painted shut, or window panes that collect condensation and frost.

So maybe you would need to think about how new windows can add value to your home!

Washing your Glass Window Accessories

We all love dressing up our windows! It’s both functional and for aesthetic purposes but today, we have so many options of what to put on our glass windows that we also have to learn how to keep them clean as well.

How to clean Window Blinds

Wood and Faux wood

You should never wash your wood binds with water, the water can still cause discoloration or bubbling. Some cleaners and chemical solvents can also damage wood slats. So what you need to do is use a dry feather duster, or a dust cloth and lightly wipe or brush each slat.

With faux wood, you can use a cloth with a little water as they are a bit more resistant to damage. You can also add a little soap or detergent to the water to remove any grease or sticky fingerprints

Aluminum Blinds

If your windows are cladded with Aluminum blinds, then you can use a dry dust cloth to remove the dust, then you can do a deep clean with either cold or warm water with some soap and wipe down each slat. Just be careful not to twist or bend the slats as you clean them.

Solar shades are one of the best options to protect your windows and also you from the harmful UV rays. Most are made form PVC fabric that is fade-resistant, so they do not retail moisture or mold making them pretty easy to clean! Tempered Glass: How to survive the Glass Bridge in the Squid Games

SPOILER ALERT!

If you haven’t seen Squid Game yet, stop reading, get on Netflix and watch it!

For those who did finish watching the series, then you watched the gut-wrenching episode about the Glass Bridge Game.

The game itself was a probability game, giving the first player a 1:2 probability of surviving the first step on the glass and the probability of the subsequent players increasing based on the glass step decisions of the previous players.

The game starts with 16 players and ends with 3 players who successfully manage to only step on the stronger glass within 16minutes. The bridge itself has 18 steps, and each player must go in a pre-determined order choosing to step on two sheets of glass which at first glance look indistinguishable.

The rules are simple, jump from one glass to the other to make it across the bridge; the catch, on each step, one sheet of glass is made from tempered glass, which can hold the weight of two players, while the other is regular glass, which drops the player to their death.

So, how do we beat this game? We need to understand the difference between the two types of glasses.

Tempered Glass squid games

Tempered glass vs regular glass

A 2019 study describes how tempered glass is four to ten times stronger than regular glass. The reason is because tempered glass goes through the tempering process, treated with extreme heat then cooled by running cool air through it making it incredibly strong and unable to shutter. A great example of tempered glass are car windshields, that make it difficult for it shutter unless something passes through with extreme force.

The games take an optimistic turn, when the glassmaker can tell the difference between the two glasses. He looks closely at the glass in the lights and the tempered glass looks a little wavy and this works well until the game makers, kill the lights and they are back to probability guessing.

So how can you tell the two apart if you were in the game?

1. Tempered Glass has smooth edges

Due to the extreme tempering process, tempered glass has smooth edges that regular glass does not have.

2. A Sandblast marker

Tempered glass usually has a marker from the sandblasting process and the edge of the glass.

3. Tiny Imperfections

It can show some tiny imperfections on the surface, because sometimes during the tempering process, small particles can be melted to the glass or scratch the surface, therefore, giving it that imperfect look.

Jupiter Window Cleaner Cleaning Windows

Fortunately, we will never have to put this newly gained knowledge to the test, but now you can tell if your glass is regular or tempered and that might help with deciding on where, and what to install in your homes!

Glass Windows: How to Remove Water Marks with Vinegar

Knowing how to spot hard water on your glass windows is crucial! We broke it all down for you HERE in case you still are not too sure what the difference is between hard water and soft water.

Glass with Water Stains

As we know now, there is nothing that stains on your windows more than hard water. Hard water is a term often associated with large cities or industrial areas and simply put, its just water with a high mineral content filled with limestone and chalk deposits. The major minerals that make up heavy water are calcium and magnesium carbonates.

Almost any water that has not yet gone through the softening process will have a trace of the values of these minerals. Many households in hard water sources have sodium dispersers. This method is enough to make your water taste good, but it may not be enough to save money on your windows.

A major challenge facing homeowners in the fight against waterlogging is the safe and effective way to remove stains from their windows. Glass is durable and can actually be used with chemicals. There are only a few options to clear these areas. The best home made method would be to use a cleansing substance made with water and white vinegar.

Vinegar water for Glass cleaning

There are chemicals you can find in any store that will work best if used properly. It will take a lot of elbow ointment and a skilled hand to remove these spots. Unless you are familiar with the procedure, you can easily damage or scratch the glass.

Distilled white vinegar is a mild acid (acetic acid) that will help break the bonds the hard water minerals have formed with the glass surface. You can also substitute with any citric acid you have in your home.

1. Mix the Cleaning Solution

In a bowl or spray bottle, combine one part of distilled white vinegar (better to use cleaning vinegar) with one part of distilled water.

2. Spray on the Solution

Place a towel at the bottom of the glass panel to catch drips. Starting at the top of the glass shower door or window, spray the solution from the top of the glass and work your way slowly down until every part of the glass is wet and allow the the solution to work for at least 30min.

3. Scrub and Wipe Away the Mineral Deposits to Clean Glass Windows

Use a soft-bristled brush or microfiber cloth, panel and wipe away the mineral deposits. Work in a circular motion rinsing the brush or cloth often. Use an old toothbrush to get into corners or around the edges of metal trim.

4. Rinse and Dry your Glass Windows

Once the hard water stains have been loosened and removed, rinse the glass with fresh water. Starting at the top, and remove the water with a microfibre cloth.
